La Edición VI del Congreso está siendo desarrollada en el marco de esta inigualable ciudad histórica con gran interés por ofrecer, a todos sus asistentes, un punto de encuentro entre investigadores, profesionales y estudiantes donde poder compartir conocimientos, hallazgos y experiencias que refuercen el valor de la predicción, la valoración del riesgo y la prevención dentro de la ciencia criminológica. Por ello, la edición de este año se ha denominado “Criminalidad y riesgo: predicción y prevención”

• EU criminal justice developments since the Maastricht Treaty
• European police and judicial cooperation under the Schengen Conventions
• Legal instruments dealing with police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters (Europol Convention, Convention on Mutual Legal Assistance)
• Mutual recognition in the EU: existing legislation and proposals (European Arrest Warrant)
• EU legislation regarding serious cross-border crime
• Organisation of police and criminal justice cooperation (European Judicial Network, Eurojust, Europol, OLAF)
• Defence rights in the EU
• The future of European criminal justice: aims of the Stockholm programme

Training measures will include lectures, workshops and practical case studies, as well as practical training on document research. Within all presentations, time will be devoted to discussion and debate. Those with existing knowledge of these matters are welcome to attend, but it should be emphasised that the course is introductory in nature.

Practitioners, academics and students are invited to submit a 500-word abstract describing current and future development of crime science including examples of collaborations between practitioners and scientists.

Topics may include advances in cyber-security, bio and chemical sensors, robotics, surveillance, biometrics and forensic science, and real cases of applications from fraud prevention to counter-terrorism.

The authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper (two pages) and present it during the conference as either a poster or an oral presentation.

We are organizing the 2009 European Association of Psychology and Law Conference, which will be held in Sorrento, Italy. The dates are September 2-5, 2009. I think this should be a terrific conference, in a most beautiful location near the Amalfi Coast and just a short ferry trip to Capri and a great occasion for exhange of expertieses in the field for Academics and Practitioners.
